全体の状況

Overall: Moldova is a calm country and visitors are treated warmly. You can walk the central streets of Chisinau late in the evening without concern, observing the usual basic precautions.

Roads: The biggest genuine risk here is the state of the road surface combined with unpredictable driving. Avoid night-time drives between towns, where deep potholes and missing road markings are common.

Transnistria: Despite its unrecognised status, the region is safe for ordinary visitors. Photographing soldiers or checkpoints is strictly forbidden; otherwise behave as you would in any other town. Keep the registration slip you receive at the checkpoint.

Pickpockets: Watch your wallet and phone on crowded minibuses and in the Chisinau markets. Robbery is rare, but petty theft in busy places is common enough to be worth thinking about.

Water: Tap water is not recommended for drinking; buy bottled water in supermarkets. Village wells are plentiful but their safety for an unaccustomed stomach is another matter.

Police: Officers are generally polite, though document checks do happen and the country has been under a state of emergency at various points. Carry your passport, avoid political arguments, and check your own government's travel advisory before travelling, particularly regarding the eastern border.

観光客はどう騙されるか

Moldova is a calm country with modest street crime. Tourists are few and there is no industry of deception.

Taxis in Chișinău. Yandex Go and iTaxi operate at low prices. Private drivers at the airport charge more.

Currency exchange. There are many offices at market rates. Change at banks or central bureaux.

Wine tours. Cricova and Mileștii Mici are the main attractions. Book directly through the wineries' sites: intermediaries add a mark-up for the same tour.

Restaurants. Prices are low and deception is rare.

Car hire. Standard claims on return. Roads inland are poor, and suspension damage is often discussed at handback.

ATMs. Decline the machine's currency conversion.

罰金や逮捕につながる行為

Transnistria is the thing to understand. This is territory Moldova does not control, with its own "border guards", currency and rules. For Moldova, entering it via the Ukrainian border counts as illegally crossing its own frontier. The practice: enter Transnistria only from the Moldovan side, register on entry, take the slip stating your permitted stay and keep it. Photographing the "border guards", military installations and peacekeeping posts is prohibited and leads to detention. A Moldovan consulate cannot help you there.

Drink-driving. The limit is zero for everyone.

Drugs. The law is strict.

Drones. Permission is required, and they are prohibited near borders and over military sites.

The Ukrainian border. Moldova borders a war zone. Checks and restrictions are possible near the frontier, and there is no reason to approach the border districts unnecessarily.

Driving. A Green Card is compulsory. Regional roads are broken up, and nobody drives between villages at night.

健康:予防接種、薬、医療

Vaccinations. None mandatory. Hepatitis A is advised.

Water. Chișinău's tap water formally meets standards, but visitors are better off with bottled. In rural areas, well water often has high nitrate levels — do not drink it.

Ticks. Risk exists in the Codri forests, from April to October.

Healthcare. The public system is weak and underfunded. Chișinău has acceptable private clinics — Medpark, Repromed. The regions have almost none. Anything serious means the road to the capital or to Romania. Insurance is needed.

Wine. Moldovan winemaking is the main reason people come, and the main everyday hazard of the trip: tastings here are generous, and the distances between wineries require a sober driver.

Weather. Continental, up to 35°C in summer, with ice in winter.

Emergency number is 112, with operators speaking Russian and Romanian.

警察:どう対応するか

Moldova sits in the lower half of the European corruption table, but police are generally correct with tourists.

The number is 112 for every service, with Russian-speaking operators.

Reporting theft. Reports are taken and certificates for insurers issued. Russian is understood everywhere.

Traffic police. Stops happen on standard pretexts. Settling on the spot has diminished since the reform but occurs in the regions. Ask for a written report.

Transnistria. A separate and central subject. It has its own militia, and Moldovan or international protections do not operate. Foreigners have been detained for photography. If you go, take minimal equipment, no drones, documents in order, and observe your permitted stay literally.

Languages. Russian is understood by almost everyone and is in daily use in Chișinău alongside Romanian.

What actually matters. Moldova itself is safe. All the risks of a trip are concentrated in Transnistria, near the Ukrainian border and on bad roads.
