Border crossing: Saudi Arabia
Al Batha is the Saudi checkpoint on the road from Al Ghuwaifat in the United Arab Emirates. Use Al Ghuwaifat to find the UAE customs post and Al Batha to find the Saudi post.
Saudi customs lists a valid driving licence, current vehicle registration and Saudi-approved insurance that covers the full stay. If the car belongs to someone else, customs asks for a certified authorization issued in the country where the car is registered. Drivers who aren’t citizens of that country also need valid residence there under the published rules. Right-hand-drive vehicles are barred.
If you’re visiting the UAE and plan to cross in a rental car, confirm eligibility with Saudi customs before booking. Check the Saudi entry rules for your passport separately.
Route and vehicle guidance checked 3 November 2026 with Abu Dhabi Customs (adcustoms.gov.ae), Saudi Exports (saudiexports.gov.sa) and ZATCA (zatca.gov.sa).
