Menara Kuala Lumpur is a telecommunications tower on Bukit Nanas hill, rising four hundred and twenty-one metres. It was built between 1991 and 1995, and in height it is second in the city only to the Petronas Towers and Merdeka 118. The observation deck and the revolving restaurant are arranged in the swelling just below the antenna, at about three hundred metres. The base is decorated with glass mosaic in an Islamic geometric pattern, and a patch of old rainforest is kept at its foot as the Bukit Nanas reserve. In the evening the shaft and the crown are floodlit, and the tower can be seen from almost any point in the centre.
