Cathedral of St Demetrius

The court church of Prince Vsevolod the Big Nest was built of white stone between 1194 and 1197. The single-domed cubic cathedral is famous for its carving, since the upper tiers of the walls are covered without a break in reliefs of saints, beasts, birds and plants, more than a thousand carved stones in all. The cathedral is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list together with the other white-stone monuments of Vladimir and Suzdal.
