Goritsky Monastery

The former men's monastery on the hill above Lake Pleshcheyevo is known from the fourteenth century and was dissolved in 1788. From its flourishing in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries there remain the walls with their ornate gateways, the Dormition Cathedral and a tall bell tower that is open to climb for the view of the town and the lake. The Pereslavl-Zalessky museum reserve has worked within the walls since 1919.
