Kazakh Eli Monument

A stele 91 metres high on Independence Square, the figure chosen for the year 1991, when Kazakhstan declared its independence. The column is crowned by the mythical bird Samruk, and bronze reliefs and sculptural groups are set around its foot. The monument was unveiled in 2011 and closes the perspective of the square together with the Hazrat Sultan Mosque.
