Tea plantations cover the hills around Munnar in the Western Ghats and define much of the landscape in Idukki district. Rows of tea bushes follow the slopes and valleys, with factories and small settlements between them. The region’s Tea Museum documents the development of plantation life.
Visitors can walk on permitted estate routes or view the plantations from public roads and viewpoints. Trips are often combined with Eravikulam National Park and nearby waterfalls; access to individual estates depends on their rules and protected-area restrictions.
