A monumental statue of Amir Timur (Tamerlane) in the centre of Shahrisabz, the conqueror's home town. Timur is shown enthroned in the robes of a ruler, and the plinth carries reliefs of historical scenes. It stands on the square in front of the Ak-Saray complex, the ruins of the palace Timur himself considered the great work of his life.
