Mingsha Singing Sand Dunes

A ridge of sand mountains south of Dunhuang that rises tens of metres above the oasis. The name translates as singing sands, because sand sliding down a slope sets off a low rumble. Wooden stepped walkways lead up to the crest, and camel caravans work at the foot.
