A quarter of two-storey shophouses between the Kinta river and the railway station, what is left of the tin capital of Malaya. Buildings of the late 19th and early 20th century stand in unbroken rows with covered galleries along their ground floors. Since 2014 a series of murals has appeared on the blank walls of the quarter, some of them painted by the Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic.
