The main church of the town stands on Cathedral Hill above the Vyazma river, on the site of a wooden church that was there already in the days of the Vyazma princes. The stone cathedral was built between 1674 and 1676, and side chapels were added later along with a bell tower that now carries the whole silhouette of the hill. The church is in use, and the old graveyard survives around it.
