The Thiruvalluvar Statue stands on a rock off the coast of Kanyakumari, beside Vivekananda Rock Memorial. The stone monument honours the Tamil poet and philosopher Thiruvalluvar, author of the Tirukkural. Its total height with the pedestal is 133 feet, corresponding to the number of chapters in this classic work of Tamil literature.
The statue occupies a separate offshore rock and is reached by boat from the mainland. The site looks across to the neighbouring memorial and the southern Indian coast.
