Handara Iconic Gate

Handara Gate stands beside Handara Resort in the Bedugul area and has become one of the best-known photo stops in central Bali. Its split form recalls a traditional Balinese candi bentar gateway: two matching stone halves frame an opening toward the green mountain landscape. The clear geometry stands out against clouded skies and dense vegetation. The view includes the path and grounds around the gate as well as the structure itself, making it easier to read the place as a short visitor stop for photographs rather than a secluded temple courtyard. The gate is associated with the resort, so check the current visitor arrangements before travelling and follow the signs on site. Bedugul lies above the coast among lakes and cool highland scenery, and many island itineraries pass through the area on the way between southern and northern Bali. When the viewing area is busy, a wider composition shows the gateway in its surroundings and avoids making it look like an isolated ancient monument. Handara can be paired with Lake Beratan and Pura Ulun Danu, both in the same highland region. The result is a compact route that combines a striking architectural landmark with the landscape and spiritual heritage of central Bali.
