Eastern Gate of the Kashgar Old Town

The main ceremonial entrance to the old town from its eastern edge is made of massive portals with carving, majolica and pointed arches. The gate was built anew along with the reconstruction of the quarter and is floodlit from top to bottom in the evening. A costumed ceremony of the opening of the city is played out at the gate every day, and on holidays a drone show is launched above the square.
