Magistrate Building in Vyshny Volochyok

The magistrate was built between 1777 and 1782 to a design by the architect Pyotr Nikitin and forms part of the government ensemble on Pozharnaya Embankment. In the middle of the nineteenth century a house carrying a faceted fire watchtower was inserted between the ranges, and once the tower was raised higher in 1900 it became the centre of the whole composition. The building now holds the town library.
