The two 88-storey towers 452 metres high were built in 1998 to the design of Cesar Pelli and remained the tallest buildings in the world until 2004. The floor plan is assembled from two superimposed squares and eight semicircles, the geometry of Islamic ornament. On the 41st and 42nd floors a two-level skybridge joins the towers, and visitors are allowed onto it.
