Miners' Palace of Culture

A building on Bukhar Zhyrau Avenue raised for a city of miners, a symmetrical block with a six-column portico and pointed arches in a Central Asian spirit. Construction began in 1940 and, after the break of the war, was finished in 1952, and the auditorium holds about a thousand seats. Six figures stand on the roof, a miner, a builder, a shepherd, a collective farm woman, an akyn and a warrior, and the sketches for them were made by the sculptor Yevgeny Vuchetich.
