Chinese Garden at Daxing Airport

Attraction·Пекин·China

The Chinese Garden occupies an open courtyard in the terminal of the Beijing Daxing airport, built in 2019 to a design by the Zaha Hadid bureau. Inside is gathered a classical northern garden, with a pond of lotuses, heaped lake stones, covered galleries and pavilions under grey tiles. The entrance is marked by wooden gates with polychrome painting and a board reading Yajing, while above the walls of the courtyard rise the curved vaults of the terminal with their glass lanterns. There are five such courtyards in the building, and each is given its own theme, so that beside the Chinese one are arranged the silk, the porcelain, the tea and the field gardens. The courtyards lie in the departure zone beyond security, so seeing them works out only with a boarding pass.
