The memorial to the liberators of Vitebsk, to Soviet soldiers, partisans and members of the underground, was opened on Victory Square in 1974. Three bayonet-shaped obelisks 56 metres high are joined by a ring, sculptural groups stand at their foot, and fountains run along the axis of the square. Next to it lies the Alley of Military Glory with its wartime vehicles.
