Shazhou Night Market

A pedestrian shopping street in the centre of Dunhuang and the main evening market of the town. Two-storey rows with wooden galleries are taken up by stalls of dried fruit, jade and souvenirs, and eating houses with kebabs and noodles stand in the passages. By day the street is almost empty, and it comes alive after sunset, when the lanterns and signs are switched on.
