Lizhi Park in Shenzhen

Lizhi Park was laid out in the very centre of Shenzhen on the site of the old lychee orchards that gave it its name. Inside hides a large pond with stone bridges, pavilions and carp sculptures, while palms and old banyans grow along its banks. In the evening the lit skyscrapers of the business quarter are reflected in the water, and the park turns into the best viewpoint in the city with no admission charge at all. By day people practise tai chi here, play cards and shelter from the heat under the canopies. The old building of the Shenzhen Museum adjoins the park on the south side, so the walk is easily continued in the halls of ancient art.
