The municipal theatre of Ho Chi Minh City was built in 1897-1900 to the design of Eugene Ferret and repeats on a smaller scale the Petit Palais in Paris, with a richly moulded facade, sculptures at the entrance and a hall for about eight hundred people. From 1955 to 1975 the National Assembly of South Vietnam sat in the building, and after the war it was returned to the theatre. It stands on Lam Son square at the start of Dong Khoi street.
