St Sophia Belfry

The five-span belfry stands directly on the kremlin wall above the Volkhov, a form typical of Novgorod, where the bell tower is not a tower but a wall pierced with openings. The old bells have been taken down and displayed at its foot; at the top is a viewing platform looking out over the river and Yaroslav's Court.
