Central State Museum of Kazakhstan

The largest museum collection in the country takes in archaeology, the ethnography of the nomads and the history of Kazakhstan from the Stone Age to the present day. The building with its blue domes and colonnade was put up in the middle of the 1980s in the upper part of Almaty. The halls show stone figures from the steppe, a full-size yurt and models of the monuments of Turkestan.
