Church of St Demetrius of Thessaloniki in Staraya Ladoga

This wooden church of the simple cell type stands in the yard of the Staraya Ladoga fortress, beside the stone Church of St George. It served the parish as the winter church, the heated one, since services could not be held through the cold months in the white-stone building next to it. The present log structure was put up in 1901 and repeated a building of 1731.
