Church of St John the Divine in the Rostov Kremlin

The gate church above the western entrance to the Rostov Kremlin was raised in 1683 and was the last building put up by Metropolitan Iona Sysoyevich. Its five domes stand on a high undercroft, and fortress towers adjoin the church on either side, so that the way into the kremlin passes directly beneath it.
