Khiva Railway Station

Attraction·Хива·Uzbekistan

The station of Khiva opened in 2018, when a railway branch from Urgench was brought up to the town. The building is built in the Khorezm manner: the pointed arch of the portal is laid with blue majolica, a gallery of narrow arches runs along the whole facade, and the walls are made the colour of the clay walls of Ichan-Kala. A square with a large fountain and granite bowls is laid out before the station, and onto it come the passengers of the trains from Tashkent and Bukhara. For most travellers this is the first picture of Khiva, seen before the old town itself. From the station to the gates of Ichan-Kala is about two kilometres.
