




A 14th-century stone fortress on Zheravya Hill in Pskov region, one of the best-preserved medieval fortresses in Russia. Seven towers (Lukovka, Nikolskaya, Talavskaya, Ploskaya, Kolokolnaya and others) with walls up to 10 metres high, elaborate zakhab passages and St Nicholas Cathedral inside. It stands above Gorodishchenskoye Lake and the Malskaya valley; the Slovenskiye Springs and Truvor's hillfort are close by.
