Id Kah Mosque

The chief mosque of Kashgar and one of the largest in China. The first building on this spot appeared in the middle of the fifteenth century, and the present look with its yellow portal, pointed niche and two minarets took shape after rebuildings in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The prayer hall stands in a poplar grove behind the portal, and the main square of the city spreads out in front of the mosque.
