Monument to Francysk Skaryna

The monument to the first printer stands on the avenue that carries his name in the centre of Polotsk. Francysk Skaryna was born here at the turn of the sixteenth century and in 1517 printed a Psalter in Prague, the first book in Church Slavonic in its Belarusian recension. The bronze figure with a book in its hands was set up in 1974.
