Monument to General Yefremov

The bronze group was set up in 1946 to General Mikhail Yefremov and the men of the 33rd Army, which was encircled outside Vyazma in the spring of 1942. Yefremov refused the aircraft sent to bring him out, stayed with his army and shot himself rather than be taken prisoner. The sculptor was Yevgeny Vuchetich, the same who made the memorial in Treptower Park in Berlin.
