Cathedral of St Sophia and the Dormition

The first stone church in Siberia was built between 1683 and 1686 by masters from Moscow to a model sent out from the capital. Its five blue domes strewn with golden stars can be seen from the Irtysh many kilometres away. Beside it rises the cathedral bell tower of the late eighteenth century, the tallest structure in the kremlin.
