Jonker Street

The main street of the Chinese quarter of Malacca, officially Jalan Hang Jebat. Two-storey shophouses of the 19th century with narrow fronts are taken up by antique shops, workshops and coffee houses. On weekend evenings the road is closed to traffic and a night market unfolds along the street, whose entrance is marked by an arch with dragons.
