A royal monastery in the Dusit quarter, founded in 1899 under Rama V, with the design directed by his half-brother prince Naris. The walls of the main hall are faced with white Carrara marble, which is where the European name comes from. In the gallery around the courtyard stand 52 copies of images of the Buddha from different countries and periods. The temple is depicted on the reverse of the 5 baht coin.
