Right by the ruins of Ek Phnom stands a working pagoda, and in front of it, raised on a brick platform in the middle of a shallow pond, is an enormous concrete figure of a seated Buddha. A staircase with a balustrade leads to the platform, stone monks with alms bowls are drawn up along the edge of the water, and trees grow around it straight out of the pond. The statue was put up in modern times and is noticeably taller than any building nearby, so the head is visible from the road long before the turning to the temple. The concrete has run with streaks and cracks, which makes the figure look far more ancient than it is. One ticket covers the grounds of both the pagoda and the neighbouring ruins.
