Dhampus is a mountain village northwest of Pokhara, visited for views of the Annapurna range and walks through the foothills. Homes and small fields spread across the slope, so even a short walk through the settlement brings changing views over the valley and surrounding ridges. On a clear day, snow-covered peaks can be seen from open spots; clouds often hide them, and visibility may change during the day.
Dhampus suits travellers who want to spend a night outside the city and reach a trail without a long drive into the high mountains. The Nepal Tourism Board notes that the village can be reached by jeep from the Pokhara area, and highlights both its mountain views and overnight stays. Allow time for an unhurried walk nearby: narrow paths connect houses, terraces and open viewpoints.
This is a small settlement rather than a fully equipped resort, so facilities and accommodation choices are more limited than in Pokhara. Check local transport and lodging before travelling, especially if you plan to stay overnight. Wear shoes suitable for uneven paths and bring a warm layer; evenings at this elevation can be cool. Early morning is often chosen for mountain views before clouds build, although Himalayan weather can change quickly.
