Palace of Farmers

Attraction·Казань·Russia

The Palace of Farmers was built in Kazan in 2010 for the ministry of agriculture, and the building at once became one of the most recognisable new landmarks in the city. The facade is handled in the spirit of European baroque, with paired columns, moulded garlands, bronze horses on the cornices and a tall dome over the central section. In the arch at the middle stands an enormous bronze tree with a spreading crown, lit from within after dark. The palace sits at the foot of the kremlin hill, on the edge of Dvortsovaya Square, and is clearly visible from the embankment of the Kazanka. Visitors are not admitted inside, but the square before the facade is open around the clock.
