

The cathedral on Nevsky Prospekt, built by Andrey Voronikhin between 1801 and 1811 in Empire style. Its semicircular colonnade of 96 columns, inspired by St Peter's in Rome, unfolds along the avenue. It holds the miraculous Kazan icon of the Mother of God, and Mikhail Kutuzov is buried here. In front stand monuments to Kutuzov and Barclay de Tolly by the sculptor Orlovsky.
