Sea Canal in Peterhof

Running about half a kilometre from the Grand Cascade to the Gulf of Finland, the canal divides the Lower Park in two. Along its banks play the 22 fountains of the Alley of Fountains, while clipped screens of trees hold the perspective towards the palace. The canal was navigable at first, and boats came up from the gulf right to the foot of the cascade.
