Rzhev Memorial to the Soviet Soldier

The bronze figure of a soldier 25 metres high stands on an artificial mound near the village of Khoroshevo outside Rzhev, on the ground where the battles of Rzhev were fought in 1942 and 1943. The memorial was opened in 2020, and the hem of the soldier's greatcoat breaks up into a flock of cranes, while the figure itself rests on a hidden frame so that it seems to hang in the air. A path leads to the mound between steel walls cut through with the names of the dead.
