The men's monastery inside the Ryazan Kremlin is known from the fifteenth century, though the ensemble seen today took shape in the seventeenth and eighteenth. In its yard stand the Epiphany Church with a tented belfry, the Transfiguration Cathedral of the early eighteenth century and the monks' range. The poet Yakov Polonsky and the engraver Ivan Pozhalostin are buried in the monastery cemetery.
