Tilicho Lake lies in the high Annapurna range in Manang District, at about 4,919 metres above sea level. Nepal’s tourism board lists it among the country’s highest lakes. Snow and surrounding glaciers feed the water, whose turquoise colour stands out against dark moraine slopes and snow-covered peaks. The lake is within the Annapurna Conservation Area and is reached by a branch of the Annapurna Circuit. Trekkers commonly approach from the Manang area through Khangsar and Tilicho Base Camp. The trail crosses exposed, rocky terrain where weather can change quickly and altitude calls for gradual acclimatisation. This is a separate high-mountain walk rather than a quick side trip: conditions depend on the season, snow and trail status, and shelter is more limited than on lower sections. Allowing extra time and carrying suitable equipment matter here. Some itineraries combine the lake with the Thorong La crossing, but that plan requires experience and careful attention to altitude. Manang is the nearest major settlement, while Pokhara is the usual city gateway to the Annapurna region.
