
A wooden cathedral in the park of the 28 Panfilov Guardsmen, one of the tallest wooden churches in the world at about 54 metres with its bell tower. It was built between 1904 and 1907 in what was then the town of Verny to a design by the architect Konstantin Borisoglebsky, with the work led by the engineer Andrei Zenkov. The building is assembled from wooden parts on metal fastenings and was calculated for earthquakes, and it came through the shocks of 1911 that destroyed the town around it.
