Church of the Epiphany

This posad church of 1684 to 1693 on Bogoyavlenskaya Square was built with the money of the merchant Alexei Zubchaninov. Its red brick walls are girdled all round with coloured glazed tiles, and the five domes rest without internal piers, which was a novelty for the time. Inside, the Yaroslavl wall painting of the late seventeenth century survives.
