The Yekaterinburg City business quarter rose on the bank of the City Pond, on the site of old industrial blocks. The main tower of the complex bears the name Iset: fifty-two floors and a height of two hundred and nine metres make it one of the most northerly skyscrapers in the world. The Demidov and President office buildings stand beside it, and in the evening the whole quarter takes on coloured lighting. The still surface of the pond works as a mirror, so the towers are usually photographed from the Makarovsky Bridge and from the dam on the Iset. The night panorama with these high-rises became the calling card of modern Yekaterinburg long ago.
