Monument to Grand Duke Algirdas

The equestrian statue of Algirdas, Grand Duke of Lithuania, was set up in 2014 beside the Church of the Resurrection, where tradition places his court. Vitebsk came to Algirdas through his marriage to Princess Maria Yaroslavna, and under him the city was enclosed by stone walls. A falcon sits on the duke's hand.
