Custom House and HSBC Building on the Bund

Two neighbouring houses in the middle of the Bund waterfront. The building of the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation with its great dome was finished in 1923 and in its day was reckoned the most expensive structure in the Far East. Beside it stands the Jianghai Custom House of 1927, whose clock tower with chimes is the main landmark of the waterfront.
