Description

Songkhla is a southern Thai coastal city set between Songkhla Lake and the Gulf of Thailand. Its history is tied to the trading port of Singora and the later relocation of the town to the present Bo Yang area. Thai, Chinese and Muslim influences are visible in its architecture and local culture. The old quarter retains traditional shophouses and buildings with Chinese and colonial-era features. A walk often follows Nakhon Nok, Nakhon Nai and Nang Ngam roads, where visitors find historic storefronts, local cafés, murals and the city pillar. Khao Tang Kuan hill offers a viewpoint above the town and coast.
