The vast mausoleum of the Sufi sheikh Khoja Ahmed Yasawi (1103-1166), raised on the orders of Tamerlane between 1389 and 1405 in Turkestan. It is one of the largest monuments of Timurid architecture and the chief shrine of the Kazakh people, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
