Dali Old Town

A walled town between the Cangshan range and Erhai lake, rebuilt under the Ming on the site of the capital of the Nanzhao kingdom. The rectangular grid of streets has survived in full: the main axis is Fuxing street from the South to the North gate, crossed by trading streets with two-storey houses of the Bai people. Open channels of mountain water run along the kerbs of the streets.
